Universal Absorbent Socks for Oil & Water

Our Universal Absorbent Socks or Snakes are the perfect choice for industrial applications. Universal sorbent socks absorb oils, water, solvents, petroleum and chemical-based fluids. These Absorbent Socks are easy to fold and place around machinery, structures, and equipment.

The combination of a knitted outer layer and polypropylene filling, these socks have a high liquid retention. As per the industry grades, universal socks are gray sorbent socks for all-purpose absorbents.

Multi-Purpose Absorbent Socks Available in 7.5cm and 8cm diameters, 1.2m or 3m lengths. Reusable — wring out and redeploy for indoor, land-based spill response.

What is the difference between universal absorbent socks and oil-only socks?

Universal socks (grey) absorb everything — oil, water, solvents, and mixed liquids — making them the right choice when you're not sure what's leaking or the area handles multiple liquid types. Oil-only socks (white) repel water and absorb only hydrocarbons, better suited for spills on or near water where you don't want to soak up water weight. See our oil-only absorbent socks for hydrocarbon-specific spills.

Are water absorbent socks the same as universal absorbent socks?

Yes. "Water absorbent sock" and "universal absorbent sock" refer to the same grey, all-purpose sorbent — it absorbs water, oil, solvents, and mixed liquids equally. The name varies by size on our product listing, but the material and absorbency are identical across all diameters and lengths. Choose based on the diameter and length you need, not the product name.
